<p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>Nigeria commenced the HIV Mortality Surveillance (MS) program aimed primarily at determining the distribution & patterns of leading causes of death (CoD) among individuals living with HIV (PLHIV) who are currently receiving treatment. </p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>In an effort to enhance the quality of data collected for the MS program, the National AIDS & STDs Control Programme (NASCP) established a committee consisting of 23 members drawn from <a href="https://www.phis3project.org.ng/">PHIS3</a>, funding agencies; <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/">CDC</a>, <a href="https://www.usaid.gov/">USAID</a>, <a href="https://www.defense.gov/">DoD</a>, <a href="http://aidshealth.org/Nigeria">AHF Nigeria</a>, <a href="https://www.theglobalfund.org/en/">The Global Fund</a>, and implementing partners.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>This committee convened from the 28th to the 30th of August 2023 to review the Verbal Autopsy tools & processes, with the objective of enriching the quality & depth of the MS data. The meeting provided an extensive overview of the quality assurance measures associated with the implementation of recency surveillance in Nigeria.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p>
